Kirke Café / シリケ カフェ

Kirke (pronounced shi-ri-ke) Cafe is where we do weekly devotional studies, hang out, and do band practice. 

Most Fridays after school, students who are free go to Kirke Cafe. Not only is the time in the cafe fun, but the time spent on the car ride there is just as full of laughter!

Before doing anything in the cafe, the students and teacher go out to play some soccer. It’s especially fun in the soothing weather and magical sunset! We don’t play for long, but it always leaves us in laughter. 

We return to the cafe and go up to the second floor to have our weekly devotions and band practice. Simultaneously, on the bottom floor, the parents have their own weekly devotion time. This time is used to reflect on what God taught us this week and to pray for each other. 

Afterward, we sing a few songs together. Recently, we are practicing some songs for our Easter outreach concert on April 9th. There is a good mix of Japanese and English songs, so that’s nice!

By the time it’s 5:30, we are downstairs, playing and talking and eating sweets. Each time, there is a variety of sweets that our teacher makes by hand, and they are mouth wateringly good! It’s definitely one of the highlights of Fridays. Some of the things we do at this time are card games, online games, studying, and just plain talking. 

Some people go home earlier, but many of us leave the cafe at around 6:30. The teachers send us back home, waiting for the next week we can meet again.

ホライズンでは毎週シリケというカフェでディボーションやバンドの練習また、交わりの時を持っています。毎週金曜日みんなの楽しみにする時間はシリケでの交わりだけではなく、その道中から始まっています。

シリケでのバイブルスタディーの前に希望する生徒数名で近くの公園にサッカーをしに行きます。天気に恵まれた日はサッカーをせず見学をするだけでも、とても気持ちの良い楽しい時間になります。サッカーの後はカフェに戻って建物の二階に集まって一週間の分かち合いと、ディボーションと、バンドの練習をします。また同時に下の階では親たちも分かち合いとディボーションの時間を持っています。バンドの練習では最近、イースターアウトリーチの賛美を練習しています。

17:30ぐらいになると生徒たちは下の階に降りて、先生の作るとてもおいしいお菓子を食べながら、ゲームをしたり、話をしたりと楽しいひと時を過ごします。

カフェの後、送迎が必要な生徒たちは先生が家や最寄りの駅まで送ってくれます。

シリケカフェでのひと時は皆との親睦を深めるとともに、信仰も深められるとても良い時間です。
